Bad Reading Habits

Since January 1st I have started 4 books, but I have yet to finish one. Now, this does not mean that they aren't good books, it's just what I do. My goal is 10 books this year, so I think it is time to set more time aside for reading.

I hope to have completed 3 of the 4 by may.

If anyone has a book they would like to recommend to help me reach my goal, I'd love to hear about it.

There may be bad things to read, but there is no such thing a bad 'reading habit'. Any reading one can accomplish in

Rita - I could recommend 50! Wish I had more time to read. Do you want fiction/practical/Catholicism? Right now I am so exhausted I am finding it hard to read - hoping to get back to it soon.

(BTW - I left information in response to your comment on how to get It's So YOu at a decent price)

Em & Marilyn,

I am always on the look out for a good book on Catholicism & the Saints.

I also enjoy reading biographies & memoirs, and the person doesn't have to be well known, I like reading about peoples lives that are different from my own.

Marilyn,

Thanks for the website about: It's So You!

I've read 5 gazillion (is that a real number?) biographies in my life, and I still think Trochu's biography of St. Bernadette is the best one I've ever read.

I think TAN has it.

OK here goes:

Saints - all the Louis de Wohl books are awesome - my husband is reading through them right now. I also like the Visions and Windeatts which the children read

For young Catholic women - anything by Kimberley Hahn - especially Life-Giving Love - if you have not already read it. And Chosen and Cherished. Dressing with Dignity by Colleen Hammond.

The Hidden Power of Kindness - Lovasik - lovely book

Apologetics - I have a whole list - you probably have read. They are somewhere on my blog - I can send you some ideas if you can't find them.

And then when you need them I have a list of hundreds of Catholic mothering and parenting and all manner of parenting books (smiley face here!!!)

Biographies - have you read Imaculee Iligbiza's "left to tell" - I cannot do it right now - it is upsetting but apparently full of hope

- Mother Teresa's books

- We studied the 2nd World War last year and read some awesome books as family read alouds - I will have to find my list

How about taking some kids' picture books out of the library - I LOVE picture books and find them so heartwarming - look at Patricia Polacco - she is awesome - I read the Lemonade Club again today and wept a little!

Hmm - I wish I had the energy to do a blog post in response to your question. But I am trying to go to bed at the same time as the children as I am so tired

Hi, I'm Abby from Explaining the Fatih. I can't really reccomend much nonfiction but I can tell you about some kids and YA fiction that I love:

Anything by Shannon Hale (I've read all of her kids and YA books; you might find her adults book "Austenland" interesting)
The Inkheart Trilogy by Cornelia Funke
Princess of the Midnight Ball by Jessica Day George
Dragon Slippers by Jessica Day George
The Ruins of Gorlan by John Flanagan
Kiki Strike by Kirsten Miller
Beauty by Robin McKinley................

That's only a few from my list. Yeah, I read a lot. As many books as I'm allowed out of the library a week. Usually between two and five. You can visit my blog of bookish stuff at www.ennainkgir.blogspot.com
