Thank you so much for sharing this story. As a person who feels that i would not have wanted to live this way i am so sad to see how this whole thing played out. I have told my family and my parents that i would never want heroic measures done to keep me alive. Now yes i would want them to do what they could but i would never want to be on life support or in a vegitative state.
But i feel since terri was already living this life and her parents were taking care of her, i don't think that starving a person should ever be done. I don't understand why her husband just didn't get a divorce and go on his way and let her family take care of her. Those decisions about life had already been decided. If he didn't want her to be alive why did he let them keep her going from the very beginning.
Sorry this whole thing just bothers me. I think people should always talk to family and parents to let them know exactly what they want to be done in case of something like this. And i would hope that most families would do what you wanted.
Mother of Christ, you had influence with your divine son while upon earth. You have the same influence now in Heaven. Pray for us; obtain for us from your Divine Son our special requests if it be the Divine Will. Amen.
"All of the pope’s misgivings have come true. The Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Savior is frequently being treated with disdain and irreverence; communion-in-the-hand opened the door to trivialization, sacrilege, abuse and indifference. The vast majority of Roman Catholics no longer kneel to receive Him, and a significant percentage of Catholics no longer recognize the Holy Eucharist as the Real Presence."
Oh Saint Maria Goretti who, strengthened by God's grace, did not hesitate at the age of twelve to shed thy blood and sacrifice life itself to defend thy virginal purity, look graciously on the human race which has strayed far from the path of eternal salvation. Teach us all, and especially youth, with what courage and promptitude we should flee for the love of Jesus anything that could offend Him or stain our souls with sin. Amen.

We are at Jesus' disposal. If he wants you to be sick in bed, if he wants you to proclaim His work in the street, if he wants you to clean the toilets all day, that's all right, everything is all right. We must say, "I belong to you. You can do whatever you like." And this ..is our strength, and this is the joy of the Lord.
Padre Pio
Joy, with peace, is the sister of charity... Serve the Lord with laughter. - St. Padre Pio
Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen
Heavenly Father, source of all holiness, You raise up within the Church in every age men and women who serve with heroic love and dedication. You have blessed Your Church through the life and ministry of Your faithful servant, Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen. He has written and spoken well of Your Divine Son, Jesus Christ, and was a true instrument of the Holy Spirit in touching the hearts of countless people. If it be according to Your Will, for the honor and glory of the Most Holy Trinity and for the salvation of souls, we ask You to move the Church to proclaim him a saint. We ask this prayer through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
