From the Baltimore Catechism (14-16)

14. Is there only one God?

Yes, there is only one God.

15. How many Persons are there in God?

In God there are three Divine Persons -

the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

(We may compare three Persons in one God to three persons in a human family: father, mother, and child. But the big difference is that three Persons in God are ONE GOD. God the Father is the first Person. God the Son, Jesus Himself, is the second Person. And God the Holy Spirit is the third Person. THREE PERSONS, BUT ONLY ONE GOD.)

16. What do we mean by the Blessed Trinity?

By the Blessed Trinity we mean one and the

same God in three Divine Persons.
